The mission of the FCC's Open Internet Advisory Committee (OIAC) is to track and evaluate the effects of the FCC's Open Internet rules, and to provide any recommendations it deems appropriate to the FCC regarding policies and practices related to preserving the open Internet. OIAC members were announced May 25, 2012.

The first OIAC full public meeting was held Friday, July 20, 2012 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Federal Communications Commission, Commission Meeting Room, 445 12th Street SW, Washington DC 20554. Watch the video.

Charter: The Committee's Objectives and the Scope of Its Activities

The OIAC's mission is to track and evaluate the effects of the FCC's Open Internet rules, and to provide any recommendations it deems appropriate to the FCC regarding policies and practices related to preserving the open Internet. The OIAC will observe market developments regarding the freedom and openness of the Internet and will focus in particular on issues addressed in the FCC's Open Internet rules, such as transparency, reasonable network management practices, differences in treatment of fixed and mobile broadband services, specialized services, technical standards, and the state of competition.
