On June 10, 2024, the FCC released an Order extending the existing waiver of the privacy screen rule for participants in video conferencing calls using Video Relay Service (VRS).  The waiver allows VRS users to turn off their video cameras when not actively participating in a video conference.  The FCC proposed to modify the rule in a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking adopted in June 2023.  The Order extends the waiver until December 31, 2024, or the effective date of an amendment to the rule, whichever is earlier.
