On August 23, 2016, the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) released a Public Notice with tentative findings about the following:
- the level of compliance with accessibility requirements for telecommunications and advanced communications services and equipment, and Internet browsers built into mobile phones;
- the extent to which accessibility barriers still exist with respect to new communications technologies; and
- the effect of accessibility recordkeeping and enforcement requirements on the development and deployment of new communications technologies.
CGB requests comments on whether its tentative findings accurately represent the current state of communications technologies accessibility. Comments will help inform the FCC’s report to Congress about these issues, which is required by the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA) and is due October 8, 2016.
