On July 8, 2024, the FCC released an Order following an informal complaint against Assurance Wireless finding that the company failed to ensure its Lifeline service is accessible to and usable by individuals with vision disabilities.

Specifically, the informal complaint alleges that Assurance’s services were not accessible to or usable by persons with vision disabilities because the devices provided as the input and control function for the services were inoperable without vision and did not enable access to Assurance’s services.

In this Order, remedies were proposed to resolve this complaint.  Assurance has 30 days to comment. The FCC may respond to Assurance’s comments with a remedy order.
