FCC Twitter Chat: Women In Information, Communications, and Technology #WICTchat

The FCC is hosting a Twitter chat in honor of Women’s History month.  This chat will focus on Women in Information, Communications, and Technology (ICT) careers from both the private and public sectors #WICTchat.  Twitter chat panelists will share their experiences and tips for women and girls interested in ICT.  

You can follow and participate by using the hashtag #WICTchat. We encourage you to share your insights or experiences relating to women in ICT careers.

  • Ann Gallagher is an Electronics Engineer and the Chief of the Cross Border, Negotiations and Treaty Compliance Branch in International Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission.  Tweets from Ann will come from @FCC signed -AG
  • Rachel Payne is Founder and CEO of FEM, Inc. an organization whose mission is to promote positive, diverse, empowering female portrayals in popular entertainment.  Tweets from Rachel will come from @FEMInc.
  • Kate Chapman is Acting Executive Director of Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.  OpenStreetMap is a web wiki project to create a free and open map of the entire world built entirely by volunteers survey with GPS, digitizing aerial imagery, and collecting and liberating existing public sources of geographic data.  Tweets from Kate will come from @hotosm.
  • Alyssa Wright is Vice President, Product at OpenGeo, an organization building enterprise open source geospatial software.  In addition to being a woman, Alyssa is a Women's Studies major from Wellesley College, so she loves Women's History Month.  Tweets from Alyssa will come from @alyssapwright.

If you are new to Twitter chats, you can use the following steps to sign up and participate.

  • Create a Twitter account at Twitter.com
  • Search for the @FCC Twitter page and click follow.
  • Sign in to your Twitter account on March 28 at 1:00 p.m. EDT and search #WICTchat in Twitter’s search bar.
  • Save the #WICTchat search term to follow the ongoing dialogue.
  • To signify your participation in the Twitter chat, tweet your comment or question and include the hashtag #WICTchat. Then click refresh to view your tweet.
