Revised Ex Parte and Procedural Rules Tutorial
The FCC recently modified its ex parte rules by expanding the types of ex parte communications for which a notice must be filed, requiring more detailed notices in an electronic format, revising the filing deadlines, and providing for strengthened enforcement and greater penalties. The FCC also recently amended its procedural and organizational rules to improve the efficiency of its decision-making, modernize procedures for the digital age, and enhance the openness and transparency of its processes. How will these changes affect practitioners and the public who are advocating positions before the FCC? This tutorial on the revised rules was led by senior FCC staff, and was followed by a question and answer period moderated by FCBA members.
