On December 30, 2022, the FCC released a report to Congress regarding the state of competition in the communications marketplace. 

Specifically about accessibility, this report addresses:

  • Efforts of the Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) Task Force to ensure the accessibility of mobile wireless handsets,
  • Accessibility functions of smart speakers and digital assistant devices,
  • Ongoing efforts by the FCC to determine the extent to which broadcasters are using next generation ATSC 3.0 broadcasting technology to deploy enhanced accessibility features, and
  • Efforts of the Communications Equity and Diversity Council (CEDC) to advance equity in the provision of communication services without discrimination on the basis of disability.
