On July 7, 2021, the FCC released a Public Notice reminding Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) participants of their obligation to ensure that EAS and WEA alerts are accessible to viewers with disabilities.
The Public Notice includes a reminder about the upcoming nationwide EAS and WEA test on August 11, 2021, at 2:20 p.m. EDT, with a back-up date of August 25, 2021.
The Public Notice also encourages the public to provide feedback on EAS and WEA tests, including any accessibility problems with EAS and WEA tests. Accessibility complaints may be filed at www.fcc.gov/accessibilitycomplaintsform. General feedback about the EAS and WEA test should be directed to the FCC’s Public Safety Support Center at https://www.fcc.gov/general/public-safety-support-center and submitted through the “Alerting Test Feedback” form.
