Office of Managing Director – New Media Intern
The New Media internship offers practical work experience and an introduction to social media and web development in the federal government. The New Media interns will also be involved with implementation of the federal digital government strategy. This internship will involve challenging opportunities, real technical projects, and interaction with agency staff.- Offer first-hand knowledge of the Federal Government community, its leadership, and organizations.
- Provide meaningful career-related work experience.
- Develop basic coding skills (HTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery/Javascript, etc.).
- Develop basic designing skills (Photoshop, Fireworks, etc.).
- Develop technical document writing skills.
- Understand the importance of New Media.
- Understand how to use social media in the Federal Government.
- Stimulate interest in a career in the Federal Government sector.
- Expose students to a broad range of Federal Government sector endeavors.

- Backend and/or frontend maintenance/development of Drupal and/or Wordpress CMS platforms.

Office of Managing Director – Human Resources Intern
The Federal Communications Commission offers unpaid internships throughout the year. Internships provide opportunities for students to broaden their academic knowledge with practical work experience. The FCC is seeking bright and motivated students interested in gaining valuable experience and making a difference through their contributions to public service. The Human Resources Intern will assist in designing and developing a structured unpaid internship program. The intern will have the opportunity to determine the need for unpaid interns; develop the approach for attracting students; design communication products for marketing the program and internship opportunities; coordinating with universities/colleges; placing students; and evaluating the success of the program. The intern will be able to demonstrate strong communications and organizational skills and will exercise independent judgment in the accomplishment of assignments.

- Assist in the implementation of an unpaid student internship program.
- Define the internship needs within the various bureaus and offices.
- Write internship descriptions and announcements.
- Create marketing material.
- Develop strategies for attracting students.
- Serve as a liaison between the bureaus/offices and Human Resources.
- Research and compile data and information for inclusion in reports and documents.
- Use a variety of automated software applications.
- Selection Criteria (Eligibility)
- Major area of study in Human Resources or Business Management is preferable.
- Full-time or part-time student in an accredited college/university.
- GPA 3.0 or above.

Office of Managing Director
The Office of the Managing Director provides managerial leadership to, and exercises supervision and direction over, the FCC’s Bureau and staff Offices in management and administrative matters; formulates and administers all management and administrative policy programs and directives for the Commission and assists the Chairman in carrying out administrative responsibilities.

Interns in the Office of Managing Director will work on various administrative affairs of the Commission with respect to the functions of human resources; labor-management relations; budget and financial management; information management and processing; organization planning; management analysis; procurement; office space management and utilization; administrative and office services; supply and property management; records management; Commission documents and filings, personnel and physical security; and international telecommunications settlements. - Selection Criteria
