Michelle Proesel is currently serving as the Senior Advisor for Strategic Planning and Outreach for the Federal Communications Commission Office of Inspector General (OIG), as part of the Council for Inspectors General for Integrity and Efficiency’s (CIGIE) Fellowship Program. In this role, Ms. Proesel is responsible for conducting strategic planning efforts to identify goals, objectives, and initiatives to fulfill the FCC OIG's mission and achieve its vision.  

Ms. Proesel is also leading efforts to engage various stakeholders, including FCC leadership, Congress, OMB, GAO, and CIGIE to identify opportunities for growth that will help shape the future direction and outreach of the FCC OIG.  

Ms. Proesel has more than 18 years of experience working for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) OIG in the Chicago Regional Audit Office. In her role as an Assistant Regional Audit Manager, Ms. Proesel was responsible for directing and mentoring audit teams in conducting multi-faceted and complex audits and reviews focused on DOJ programs, grants, and contracts. These efforts have improved DOJ operations and enhanced accountability in a variety of areas involving law enforcement, national security, human resources, and financial management.   

Throughout her tenure at the DOJ OIG, Ms. Proesel has also made significant contributions to internal initiatives related to employee engagement, resource prioritization, training, performance management, strategic planning, and quality assurance. Over the years, Ms. Proesel has earned multiple CIGIE and DOJ OIG honor awards, as well as the DOJ OIG leadership award.  

Ms. Proesel received her B.A. in Public Policy from DePaul University and her M.P.A. from American University. She also earned a Certificate in Strategic Management from Georgetown University.
