Chairman Genachowski Joined Education Department Secretary Arne Duncan to Advance U.S. Efforts on Digital Learning
FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski joined U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan for a discussion on transitioning K-12 schools to digital learning. In its National Broadband Plan, the FCC presented a vision of using technology to transform how teachers teach and students learn inside and outside of the classroom. Through its E-Rate program, the FCC is the largest funder of information technology in schools across America.
WHAT:
FCC Chairman Genachowski delivered remarks and participated in a roundtable discussion with Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan, moderated by ABC7’s Leon Harris as part of the first Digital Learning Day. The National Town Hall featured live interaction with school sites around the country, profiled teachers who effectively use technology to deliver instruction, and focused on successful education innovation projects that demonstrate how technology can be used in the classroom to improve student outcomes.
