Twitter Town Hall on Robocalls
The FCC is tasked with enforcing restrictions on unwanted calls, implementing policies to protect consumers against unwanted robocalls and telemarketing calls, and informing the public and stakeholders of the rules and concerning trends.
Unwanted calls – including robocalls and telemarketing calls – are the top consumer complaint to the FCC. Just this week, the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau alerted consumers of a concerning trend among scammers to utilize popular gift cards as a means of defrauding consumers.
On Friday, November 4 at 1:30 to 2:30 pm EDT, the FCC policy staff took the reins of the agency’s Twitter handle and talked to the public about robocall policies, consumer tips, and concerning trends.
