Disability Advisory Committee Meeting
The FCC's Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) held its second meeting of the fifth term on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. (EDT) in the Commission Meeting Room at FCC headquarters at 45 L Street NE, Washington, DC 20554.
At this meeting, DAC members discussed or received updates on:
- a working group report and recommendation on the transmittal of audio description files to Internet Protocol programming;
- a working group report and recommendation on Direct Video Calling best practices and outreach; and
- other topics relevant to the DAC’s work.

The DAC meeting was open to the public.
The DAC provides advice and recommendations to the Commission on a wide array of disability issues. The DAC also provides a means for stakeholders with interests in accessibility issues to exchange ideas, facilitates the participation of consumers with disabilities in proceedings before the Commission, and assists the Commission in educating the greater disability community and covered entities on disability-related matters. The DAC apprises the Commission about current and evolving communications issues for persons with disabilities.
The DAC is organized under, and operated in accordance with, the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
