On November 21, 2014, the FCC released a Policy Statement and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. In the Policy Statement, the FCC affirms its commitment to ensuring reliable and resilient 911 service and its continuing partnership with state and local authorities. In the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, the FCC seeks comment on specific proposals in four key areas to reverse the trend of large-scale 911 outages.
The dates for comments and reply comments will be announced later after the Policy Statement and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking is published in the Federal Register.
