Pursuant to the Commission's July, 2002 Qrder to Stay, Leap Wireless International, Inc. (and its Cricket Communications, Inc. subsidiary) respectfully submits its Fifteenth Enhanced 911 (E911) quarterly implementation report for the period ending April 30, 2006.
Status of Pending Reguests
As of July 20, 2006, Leap provides Phase I service to 221 PSAPs in 19 states and Phase II service to 152 PSAPs in 16 states.
In accordance with the FCC Public Notice released on June 6, 2003, CC Docket No. 94- 102, the attached Appendix A lists the status for all Phase I and II requests including PSAPs deployed, pending, and invalid requests due to the serving area falling outside of Leap's coverage area.
Leap has 61 Phase I requests and 54 Phase II requests that are currently in the process of deployment. These requests will be deployed within the 6-month timeframe or a timeframe that is mutually agreed upon with the PSAP, as noted in the "Projected Deployment Date" column on Appendix A.
Status of Handset Deployment
All handsets sold by Leap are location-capable handsets. Leap is in compliance with the Commission's E911 benchmark. As of July 20, 2006, 95.4% of Cricket customers had GPS-enabled handsets.
As required in the July Order, Leap is providing this implementation report to the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO), the National Emergency Numbering Association (NENA) and the National Association of State Nine One One Administrators (NASNA).
