The FCC held this virtual field hearing on November 17 to hear from a diverse range of stakeholders about the impact of Hurricanes Fiona and Ian on communications and the recovery effort. Last month Chairwoman Rosenworcel visited Puerto Rico and Florida with staff from the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau to meet with local officials, first responders, and stakeholders and to survey the restoration after these hurricanes. This hearing was held immediately following the Commission's November Open Meeting and focused largely on coordination between the communications and power sectors in response to these disasters. The hearing was streamed live at: www.fcc.gov/live.
Stakeholders and members of the public are invited to share their perspectives on these topics in the form of written statements via filing with the Commission’s Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) in PS Docket No. 21-346 and 15-80 and ET Docket No. 04-35, either at www.fcc.gov/ecfs or by using the Commission’s express comment filing portal at www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express. Written statements of the panelists and the recording of the hearing will be made part of the public record in these dockets.
