Alaska Connect Fund

On October 19, 2023, the Commission adopted the Alaska Connect Fund Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FCC 23-87), which seeks comment on establishing the Alaska Connect Fund (Alaska Connect), the next phase of high-cost support for fixed and mobile carriers in Alaska.  The NPRM seeks comment on how to ensure access to reliable and secure service in remote  Alaskan areas.  It seeks comment on the overall budget and length of the program, as well as timing and carrier requirements like speed and buildout milestones, provider eligibility, whether to develop a competitive process to distribute funds, and how to ensure carrier accountability for the services promised to Alaskans.
