Level 3 And Global Crossing

Global Crossing Limited (GCL) and Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Level 3) have filed a series of applications pursuant to sections 214 and 310(d) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and the Cable Landing License Act of 1921, seeking approval for the transfer of control of GCL and its subsidiaries. Specifically, applicants seek approval to transfer control of domestic and international section 214 authorizations, cable landing licenses, and satellite earth station licenses held by various subsidiaries of GCL to Level 3. Level 3 has also filed a petition pursuant to section 310(b)(4) of the Communications Act, requesting a declaratory ruling that indirect foreign ownership of certain common carrier wireless licenses held by two of its subsidiaries is in the public interest.
