Telemundo Communications Group, Inc. (“Telemundo”) and National Broadcasting Company (“NBC”) have filed applications pursuant to Section 310(d) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, seeking Commission approval to transfer control of licenses and authorizations currently controlled by subsidiaries and affiliates of Telemundo. This transfer of control would take place as the result of a proposed merger and a related acquisition by NBC of certain limited liability company membership interests, after which Telemundo would become a wholly-owned subsidiary of NBC.
These applications pertain to licenses for television broadcast stations in Linden, New Jersey; Corona, California; Los Angeles, California; Chicago, Illinois; San Jose, California; Dallas, Texas; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; San Antonio, Texas; Galveston, Texas; Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and San Juan, Puerto Rico; and other licenses in the broadcast services. The applicants also have requested a temporary twelve-month waiver of the Commission’s local television “duopoly” rule with regard to the television stations located in and around the Los Angeles, California television market.
