We summarize here information from the twelfth data collection, thereby presenting a snapshot of subscribership as of June 30, 2005. High-speed lines connecting homes and businesses to the Internet increased by 13% during the first half of 2005, from 37.9 million to 42.9 million lines in service, compared to a 17% increase, from 32.5 million to 37.9 million lines, during the second half of 2004. For the full twelve month period ending June 30, 2005, high-speed lines increased by 32% (or 10.4 million lines). The presence of high-speed service subscribers was reported in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, and in 98% of the Zip Codes in the United States.
