High Speed Services for Internet Access (As of 12/31/03)

We summarize here information from the ninth data collection, thereby presenting a snapshot of subscribership as of December 31, 2003.  Subscribership to high-speed services for Internet access increased by 20% during the second half of 2003, to a total of 28.2 million lines in service.  The presence of high-speed service subscribers was reported in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, and in 93% of the zip codes in the United States.
