On January 17, 2017, the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) adopted three technical standards to improve VRS interoperability. CGB set deadlines for VRS providers to comply with the new technical standards following publication of the item in the Federal Register. This item has now been published in the Federal Register, establishing the following effective date and compliance deadlines:
The VRS Interoperability Order and final rules are effective May 30, 2017.
The compliance deadlines for providers to meet the standards are as follows:
- RUE Profile: April 27, 2018
- xCARD XML format: October 24, 2017
- VRS Provider Interoperability Profile: Temporarily suspended
The VRS Interoperability FNPRM seeks comment on the scope of application of the technical standards of the RUE Profile. Comments must be filed on or before June 12, 2017, and reply comments must be filed on or before July 11, 2017.
Comments must be filed in CG Docket Nos. 10-51 and 03-123, which may be accessed via the Electronic Comment Filing System (https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/).
