The Industry Analysis Division (IAD) is the Commission’s principal resource for data services and statistical and geospatial consulting. Comprised of economists, GIS analysts, statisticians, and engineers, IAD supports the Bureaus and Offices by designing, implementing, and supporting economically-relevant data collections, such as the Broadband Data Collection, the Urban Rate Survey, and the Cable Price Survey. Using these data, IAD performs in-depth analyses and detailed studies, including reports on Universal Service Fund Monitoring, Internet Access Services, and Voice Telephone Services, to inform the Commission’s actions and support its goals.
IAD collects and/or manages the following industry data, which are available on the IAD Data and Statistical Reports page:
- ARMIS (Automated Reporting Management Information System) financial and operational data from the largest local exchange carriers
- Broadband Data Collection (BDC) data on where mass-market broadband service is available
- Cable Price Survey (CPS) data on cable industry prices
- FCC Form 395 data on employment and discrimination complaints
- FCC Form 477 data on broadband and voice telephone service through June 30, 2022
- FCC Form 492 data on rates-of-return for local exchange carriers
- FCC Form 499 registration and revenue data from telecommunications providers
