Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Results of Conformity Assessment Procedures between the United States of America and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (referred to as the “the United Kingdom”)
The agreement was signed on February 14, 2019. It is intended to streamline the conformity assessment procedures for a wide range of telecommunications equipment and facilitates trade between the United States and United Kingdom.
It provides for the mutual recognition of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) and mutual acceptance of the results and equipment certification procedures undertaken by those bodies in assessing conformity of equipment to the importing economy's technical regulations.
This Agreement applies to conformity assessment of telecommunications terminal equipment, satellite terminal equipment, radio transmitters, and information technology equipment. For such equipment the MRA covers electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio and telephone terminal equipment requirements.
The United Kingdom MRA is a bilateral, single sector agreement.
Under this MRA, all Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) information is submitted to the FCC from the CABs through the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (Office for Product Safety and Standards).
A joint committee has been established to discuss implementation and operational issues.
The Agreement for mutual recognition of testing laboratories and mutual acceptance of test results and mutual acceptance of equipment certification procedures became effective January 1, 2021.
