Staffing
WPPD is staffed with writers, editors, graphic display artists, and web publishing professionals who develop digital content strategy and deliver consumer-friendly web content.
Our Work
WPPD's portfolio includes the following work streams:
- Help Center and Consumer Guides: WPPD researches, writes, and publishes all Consumer Help Center posts. The Division also manages the development and maintenance of more than 160 regularly curated consumer guides to inform CGB's audience on multiple topics and issues of interest. Scam-related posts are archived separately in an alphabetized Scam Glossary.
- Print Design: WPPD leads content development and design for handouts, infographics and posters on a range of telecom consumer issues, including spoofing, broadband, emergency communications, billing, and other consumer topics. Materials are distributed by FCC outreach staff at consumer events. Materials are also provided to partner organizations on request and are available to print on demand.
- Digital Media Content: WPPD provides in-house development and creation of digital media content highlighting consumer education topics and other priority messaging for the Commission. FCC Consumer Productions highlights include animated videos on spoofing and on communicating during emergencies.
- Translations: In addition to in-house Spanish translations, WPPD manages the Bureau's contract for all other language translations of consumer materials. More than 100 consumer guides, and all Consumer Help Center Posts, are produced in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and other languages on request.
- Public Safety: WPPD partners with the FCC's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau to translate into Spanish daily status reports on communications services in geographic regions impacted by natural disasters or other service disruptions.
Congress Authorizes WPPD
April 8, 2011: "…The new division will be responsible for researching, writing, designing and developing electronic and print materials to communicate information on the policies, rulemakings, programs and plans of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Materials developed by the new division provide consumers with significant information concerning telecommunications services and how those services are regulated, as well as information consumers need to make choices in a competitive marketplace."
